Favorite easy strawberry baby puree – immune system booster

Jump to Recipe

Fruit purees are always a baby favorite food. Breastmilk is naturally sweet and the natural sweetness of the fruit makes it a fluid transition to solid food. This puree has a lovely bright fresh fruity flavor thanks to the strawberries and tons of natural sugars and creaminess thanks to the banana. The apple brings the two together. The simple addition of ginger and turmeric makes this puree a lovely immune system boosting recipe. The quantities added are enough to be effective but not too much to be too strong for little palates.

The procedure is very simple. Let’s start washing and chopping the strawberries, coring and chopping the apples. We are not peeling the apples as the peel contains an element, pectin, a natural thickener for our puree.

You can add the strawberries and apples in a large saucepan all together with the lemon peel, turmeric, ginger and water. The mix needs to cook at medium heat for 8 minutes so that the apples will get soft.

Let it cool down completely and add the banana. Using an immersion blender or a food processor transform into a smooth puree. Serve!

DO I NEED TO PUREE?

All depends which kind of texture you would like to obtain. You will need to blend everything in a food processor to obtain a smooth puree. You can use a fork and mash the fruit together for a chunky texture.

HOW TO STORE IT?

In the fridge for 4/5 days.

In the freezer for up to 6 months.

HOW TO SERVE IT?

You can have your little one enjoy the puree in so many ways! Combine the puree with fresh fruit cut in little pieces or with yogurt or with cottage cheese with cereals or as a spread on a toast.

You can also transform the puree into a popsicle or create popsicle drops for little ones!

If your baby has a sore throat or a cold, the cold drops or popsicle will be such a nice relief to enjoy.

CAN I USE POWDER GROUND DRY TURMERIC AND GINGER?

Sure, if you don’t find the fresh ones. But the ground dried spices are more concentrated than the fresh ones, so you will need to reduce the quantities. For every 1 tsp of fresh one, just use 1/4 tsp of ground one. So for our recipe I would suggest 1/4 tsp ground turmeric and a pinch of ground ginger.
