In Italy we do celebrate Carnival (Carnevale) three weeks or so before Easter. It’s a lot of fun for the kids, they can dress up with costumes and they enjoy the parade with the giant Carnival floats. It’s a very festive celebration and, of course, we have special sweets just for Carnival: frittelle and frappole.
