Italian grape cake

My mom inspired me for this recipe 🙂
She was telling me how delicious was the concord grape cake (torta con uva fragola) that her grandma used to cook in late September/beginning October when the grapes in Italy are perfectly sweet. She was just a kid and while grandma was cooking she was eating the grapes left from the recipe 🙂

That’s how I decided to use a local variety of grapes (concord + champagne) and try to recreate the same recipe my great grandma used. Unfortunately she didn’t leave us any note…but I can tell you that Luca really enjoyed the final result!

A scoop of Vanilla ice cream will be a perfect match for this cake! Enjoy!!

p.s.
As I’m using eggs, I recommend this recipe for babies older than 12 months.

    Hi Barbara,
First of all, you have an excellent blog..I was searching for a grape cake recipe and came across this recipe in your you tube channel.I have already made eggplant pizza following your recipe. So I trust your recipes and I want to try this.I have few doubts. What is the amount of baking powder? It is shown in the video as teaspoon, but you mentioned it as tablespoon.Could you please clarify this? And can I use white sugar instead of brown sugar? And is the baking time 50mins?I do not have a silicon pan.Should I grease and dust the regular pan?And I hope a 9inch round pan will work for this recipe, right?
    Thank you.

Hi! Thank you so much for watching BuonaPappa!!! The correct amount of baking powder is 2 and 1/2 teaspoons. Sugar, yes you can switch to regular sugar, it will just be a bit more sweet. Baking time: 400F for 50min. If your oven runs hot, check if the cake is ready at 40min. My oven is very old and needs a bit more time 🙂 Silicon pan. I use it as I do not have to grease it. You can substitute it with a regular baking pan, just grease the bottom and the sides with some olive oil or butter and dust too. 9inch is what I used. Let me know how it goes!! ciao, b

Coconut sugar is a nice substitution. I’m not a big fan of the Stevia flavor 🙂
      Ciao!
